CRIME in Lancashire has continued to fall at a rate higher than the national average, according to Home Office figures released today.
The county has seen a 4.9 per cent reduction in all crime from September 2010 to September 2011. This equates to 5,097 fewer victims of crime in comparison to the same period the year before. The national average is a four per cent reduction.

Police watchdogs have commended latest crime figures that show the force has safeguarded high performance despite cuts to its budget.
Figures presented to members of Lancashire Police Authority show overall crime continues to fall in the county, mirroring a seven-year trend which has seen offences committed in Lancashire plummet an astonishing 32.6%.

Lancashire’s top performing community police officers are set to be honoured this week for their commitment to making the county safer.
A host of awards will be presented to members of Lancashire Constabulary at Wednesday’s (December 14 2011) Police Authority meeting to recognise outstanding service and dedication which goes beyond the call of duty.
