Partnerships
Part of our work includes working in partnership with a range of organisations and agencies including the 13 Community Safety Partnerships in Lancashire and the Safer Lancashire Board.
Safer Lancashire Board
The Police Authority is one of the 'responsible authorities' at the county community safety partnership, known as the Safer Lancashire Board. Working with a wide range of other organisations and agencies the Safer Lancashire Board's key aim is to make Lancashire 'a place where people are and feel safe'.
The Police Authority is represented on the Safer Lancashire Board by the Authority Chair, Cllr Malcolm Doherty and the Chief Executive, Miranda Carruthers-Watt.

District and Unitary Community Safety Partnerships
One of the key ways the Police Authority works with partner organisations and agencies is through the thirteen Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs) that cover the county. The Authority is one of the ‘responsible authorities’ on each of the partnerships along with the local council, police, fire & rescue service, health authority and probation trust. In addition to these 'responsible authorities' each CSP has a slightly different membership reflecting the needs and arrangements for that particular area.
The Community Safety Partnership provide a formal structure for public, private and voluntary sector organisations to work together to develop an annual strategy to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in their area.
The Police Authority provides an annual grant of £3000 for each of the CSPs and nine of the thirteen receive additional funding from the precept on the council tax collected on second homes and long term empty properties.
How Lancashire Police Authority Funding has been used
Funding provided by the Police Authority to the Community Safety Partnerships is used for a wide range of projects and initiatives designed to improve community safety, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and increase community confidence.
