I have worked at all levels of public service for 25 years and am passionate about helping the most disadvantaged people in society lead fulfilling lives of their choosing. This experience resulted in me having a strong commitment to ensuring high standards of public service. I qualified as a social worker in 1987 and my last role was as an Assistant Director, which I left five years ago to spend more time caring for my family.
Currently I am a Non-Executive Director at Calderstones Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and a Fitness to Practice panellist for the Nursing and Midwifery Council. I was recently appointed as a Public Appointments Ambassador in a new Government programme led by the Government Equalities Office and Cabinet Office to encourage more people to apply for public appointments.
I live in West Lancashire, where I enjoy combining my public appointment roles with raising my teenage sons and keeping a productive allotment. I have a particular interest in governance of public services and vulnerable adults who offend.
