I joined Lancashire Police Authority in June 2001 and greatly enjoy serving on the Authority. I have a special interest in retention and progression/workforce modernisation and I have recently been appointed Chair of the Human Resources Committee. These duties involve attending local and National meetings on these issues and reporting back to the Authority.
Lancashire Police Authority helps to shape the form of policing from on the one hand the strategic level of setting the Budget, approving the Policing Plan and appointing the Chief Constable, to the personal level of ensuring there are the right equality and anti discriminatory policies in place. Meetings involve strategic meetings with the Chief Constable and his officers and staff and also public meetings where the role of the Authority has to be explained and questions answered.
The Authority has been at the forefront of supporting the Constabulary in the establishment and development of neighbourhood policing which has enjoyed so much public support. Much work has been done but there remains exciting challenges for the future. I hope to be able to continue to serve the Authority in the years ahead.
