Consultation on Employment Targets for Lancashire Constabulary 2010/11
Lancashire Police Authority is required to set annual local employment targets for Lancashire Constabulary for under represented groups. It must do this in agreement with the Chief Constable and after consulting with the public, police officers and police staff.
Having employment data around recruitment, retention and progression helps the Authority to monitor what progress the Constabulary is making towards achieving a better overall representation amongst its staff of the diverse community it serves. It also helps the authority ensure that the constabulary's recruitment and promotion practices are non discriminatory and that there are employment opportunities for all.
To help the Authority set employment indicators and targets, we seek the views of the constabulary, the unions, staff associations and staff support networks, the Constabulary's Independent Advisory Group Members and the community. We are now seeking views on the proposed employment indicators for 2010/11.
Over recent years the focus of attention and activity by the Authority and Constabulary has been on increasing the number of women and the representation of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities within the Constabulary, and also increasing the opportunities for them to stay and progress in the Constabulary. In 2009/10, the Authority set 12 employment indicators (see below); three of these had targets for achievement.
Please indicate whether you agree or disagree that Lancashire Police Authority should monitor the following employment indicators in 2010/11.
