Policing Priorities

Each financial year we are required to set policing priorities. The current priorities have been in place since April 2008 and will remain until March 2009. We would like your opinion of how successful we have been in addressing these priorities and whether they are the right things for us to continue focussing on in the year ahead (from April 2009 - March 2010).

The issues listed below relate to reassuring the public. In order for us to decide which to prioritise we would like you to select the THREE that you think should be given the greatest emphasis.

It is important for the police in Lancashire to focus on��

Being accessible to everyone in the community and visible within the community
Dealing with anti-social behaviour, including alcohol-related anti-social behaviour
Ensuring the police force employs a diverse and representative workforce
Providing equal access and quality of service to everyone
Engaging in a positive way with young people
Ensuring all road networks are safe and accessible to everyone
Ensuring a safe and secure environment for the public
Providing support to victims of crime and those who have witnessed a crime

The following issues relate to reducing and investigating crime. Again, in order for us to decide which to prioritise we would like you to select the THREE that you think should be given the greatest emphasis.

It is important for the police in Lancashire to focus on��

Acquisitive crime (burglary, personal robbery, theft of or from vehicles etc.)
Terrorism
Crimes arising from prejudice against another person (for reasons such as age, skin colour, religion, disability etc.)
Crimes associated with Class A drugs (such as cocaine and heroin)
Bringing offenders and offences to justice
Serious and organised crime
Critical incidents and major crime (such as missing persons, incidents involving firearms, prevention and investigation of homicide etc.)
Violent crime (including domestic violence, knife and gun crime)
